T-WOLVES FIRE FLIP SAUNDERS
The Minnesota Timberwolves have fired head coach Flip Saunders after a 25-26 start.
Saunders is coming off a 2003-2004 season in which he led the Timberwolves to the Western Conference Finals. The Timberwolves are currently 11 1/2 games behind the Sonics in the Northwest Division and are 9th in the Western Conference. Vice president of basketball operations Kevin McHale will coach the Timberwolves for the remainder of the season.
The trading deadline is February 24, so the Timberwolves may not be done making changes.
