BRET BOONE DEATH MARCH UPDATE

Yes, Bret Boone is still a Seattle Mariner.

After sitting on the bench for 5 games, Boone returned to the lineup this past Wednesday against Oakland and has started every game since.

I introduced the Bret Boone Death March over a week ago, where the readers can predict what date the M's will get rid of Boone, via trade or release. It's still up and running, so click here if you want to add your prediction to the post. I predicted July 25 as the day Boone leaves the Mariners organization.

Boone's numbers since returning to the lineup June 22:

Oakland (June 22-23)
.143 (1-for-7), 1 K

at San Diego (June 24-26)
.500 (6-for-12), 1 HR, 4 RBI, 1 2B, 1, 3B, 1 BB, 2 K

Overall (6 games)
.368 (7-for-19)

If the Mariners can get anything for Boone, it's a win-win situation. Boone's future with this organization, well, there is no future. The M's will be better off without Boone. The sooner they can start Jose Lopez everyday at second base, the better off they will be. Hopefully that can take place sooner rather than later.

The Bret Boone Death March is still on. Batflips are not acceptable.
