ONE AND ONE
This is my first official baseball post of the new season.
I was flying back to Arkansas yesterday, so I didn't get to watch a lot of baseball. Hell, I think I watched about 2 minutes of the Mets-Reds tops while waiting for my plane in Houston to board. But all flying issues aside, I'm excited that baseball is back in my life. Last year was last year. This year is a new year.
Thanks to MLB.com's promotion with Pepsi One, I was able to check out the Twins-Mariners tonight on MLB.TV for free. Too bad that it was the Twins television feed. But hey, I take whatever I can get. This was my first time watching a game on MLB.TV during the regular season. I came away very impressed by the whole deal. A few weeks back, I remember telling David that I only get around 7-8 Mariner games on television in Arkansas until August. So I may just go ahead and get the MLB.TV deal after all.
So the Mariners lost 8-4 to the Twins. I won't get into the full-blown details, because David's got that covered. However, I will say that I love having Richie Sexson and Adrian Beltre in Seattle. I'm having more fun as a Mariner fan in the first two days of this season than I did all of last season.
Rubber game is tomorrow, a 3:35 Pacific start. Bobby Madritsch makes his 2005 debut for the M's and Carlos Silva will go on the hill for the Twins.
It's only two games. Don't jump off a bridge just yet.
Just thank God that Bob Melvin isn't sucking on his root beer barrels in Seattle anymore.
