BUFFALOED INTO SUBMISSION
Now the world don't move to the beat of just one drum
What might be right for you, may not be right for some
A man is born, he's a man of means
Then along come two, they got nothin' but their jeans
But they got Diff'rent Strokes
It takes Diff'rent Strokes
It takes Diff'rent Strokes to move the world
Everybody's got a special kinda story
Everybody finds a way to shine
It don't matter that you got not a lot- so what?
They'll have theirs, you'll have yours and I'll have mine
And together we'll be fine,
Cause it takes Diff'rent Strokes to move the world, yes it does
It takes Diff'rent Strokes to move the world!
Not only is it all about the O, it's all about the U as well.
What is there to say about today's 38-9 stomping at the hands of the Buffalo Bills?
---Willis McGahee is for real. 116 yards and 4 touchdowns. That 4th-and-1 play where Drew Bledsoe faked out the Seahawks defense and tossed it to McGahee as he went 30 yards for the touchdown was hysterical. And while I shouldn't feel that way, that's more imagination out of an offense than I've seen in the Mike Holmgren Era.
---Speaking of Holmgren, it's very fair to say that he's on the hot seat. Let's see, preseason expectations were sky high for the Seahawks and going into December, they're 6-5? Matt Hasselbeck has been mediocre at best, the receivers are still dropping balls, and the defense is still soft. Thank God for Shaun Alexander.
---Alexander must be re-signed. This has to happen.
---I really hope that we don't have to hear about how the loss of Koren Robinson affected the Seahawks today. But that's definitely how the national media will spin this. Robinson hasn't been a factor at all in 2004, so why would he all of a sudden be considered a huge loss for this ballclub?
---Who knew that Tom Rouen would be missed so much?
---Let's go back to Alexander and Holmgren for a moment. On the Seahawks' first drive in the 2nd quarter, they were at the 3-yard line. Good deal. So if I were running the show, I'll give the ball to Alexander.
1st and goal, Alexander carries it for 1 yard. Ball at the 2.
2nd and goal, Darrell Jackson incomplete pass
3rd and goal, Hasselbeck to the 1.
4th and goal?
19 yard Josh Brown FG.
Are you kidding me? It's not like the Seahawks don't have the best running back in the NFC, statistically speaking. If it isn't evident to anyone by now, Holmgren has it in for Alexander. There's no other reason as to why Alexander wasn't given a chance to get into the end zone.
Hell, there may not be another running back in football better than Alexander inside the 5-yard line. But I digress.
The Seahawks settle for 3. It should have been 7.
---Some folks will call the onside kick at the start of the 2nd half by Buffalo "bush league". I call it brilliant strategy. If you're the Bills, you know you have the Seahawks on the ropes. It's 24-3 Bills coming out of the locker room and it was obvious to anyone that the Seahawks weren't going to come back. On this play, Bills head coach Mike Mularkey owned Holmgren.
---CUT THE MULARKEY!
--- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- ---
Right now, the Seahawks should thank God that they are in the NFC West. They sure as hell don't look like a team that will go very far in January at this rate. But things can certainly change. It's a wide-open NFC in 2004.
However, after seeing the Seahawks crap the bed today, I don't know what to expect out of this team. Basically, they can't play any worse than they did today.
The Seahawks will face the Cowboys next Monday night on ABC. No word on whether Darrell Jackson will be used in a promo where the script has him dropping Eva Longoria to the ground.
If the 4-7 Dallas Cowboys come into Seattle and beat the Seahawks, then it's really time to panic. Then again, a 4-6 team came into Seattle and just took the Seahawks to the shed. But the thing is, Buffalo sure as hell doesn't look like a 5-6 team right about now.
Trouble is, the Seattle Seahawks sure as hell don't look like the NFC West leaders. They look like a contestant on "The Price Is Right" that wins the showcase only because the other contestant bids way too much money on his showcase. Is the price wrong on this 2004 Seattle Seahawks team?
Come on down, Willis McGahee, you've just scored another touchdown on the Seattle Seahawks defense!
