SEZ ROTOWORLD...
Rockies acquired RHP Allan Simpson from the Mariners for RHP Chris Buglovsky.
It looks like the Mariners wanted to open up a 40-man roster spot, so instead of risking losing Simpson on waivers, they traded him for a weaker prospect who doesn't have to be placed on the roster. Simpson, 26, had a 4.16 ERA in 43 relief appearances for Triple-A Tacoma last season. He should get a chance to compete for a spot in Colorado bullpen. Buglovsky, 24, went 10-10 with a 4.83 ERA for Double-A Tulsa in 2003.
So the strategy is to trade a decent prospect for a crappy prospect just to clear a roster spot. I love the absolute lack of logic and the total ignorance toward the bastion of conventional wisdom.
