SEAHAWKS AT CARDINALS, 12/10/06

Seattle SEAHAWKS at Arizona CARDINALS, 1:05p (Fox)

The last time the Seahawks lost to the Cardinals? October 24, 2004. Week 7 of the 2004 season.

As we know, that was a terrible season. I wanted Mike Holmgren fired many times that season, but that was way before I knew any of the crap that Bob Whitsitt was pulling behind the scenes. Then there was that whole thing where they lost to the Rams twice in the regular season and at home in the first round of the playoffs.

Still, it was the loss to Arizona that sunk the Seahawks from a 3-0 start and leveled them off at 3-3.

I decided to bury myself in the badness of that loss and go back to Jeremy's post from that day.

On a day they could have tied the Rams atop the NFC West with a win, Matt Hasselbeck was 14-for-41 and threw four picks en route to a 25-17 loss. Shaun Alexander ran for 57 yards on 12 carries. The time-of-possession split was nearly 40-20 in favor of Arizona, which is sickening even two years later.

Even more sickening than that was the fact that Emmitt Smith in an Arizona uniform ran for 106 yards on 26 carries.

Let's focus on today now. Dennis Green all but ditched the run a couple weeks ago, but had more of it in the win against the Rams. Knowing the Seahawks' run defense, Green will probably be giving Edgerrin James a decent share of carries.

Still, the Cardinals' modus operandi would be for Matt Leinart to get the ball to the Cardinals' talented receivers. The key for the Seahawks? The Cardinals' offensive line is still terrible. Get to Leinart and that's that.

I could say a ton of stuff here, but as usual, I'll just settle for a win. Why?

It has to happen.
