DISPATCHED, WEDNESDAY EDITION

This week, I've been posting links to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch and other national media sites related to Saturday's Rams-Seahawks first-round playoff game. Maybe it's just me, but I gain a better understanding of my team's opponents when I read the opponents' hometown newspaper. You don't always get this stuff on Sportscenter. Yes kids, it's OK to read!

Anyways, the Wednesday edition of Dispatched. I don't know what the name of this post will be called next week should the Seahawks advance to the divisional playoffs.

WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 5
ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH

Jim Thomas: Bulger hits his stride
So can (Marc) Bulger ever make fans forget about (Kurt) Warner? Even just a little bit?

"Not until he wins a Super Bowl," defensive end Leonard Little said. "I think it's going to take that, because a lot of people around here remember Kurt from winning the Super Bowl. Marc's that caliber of a quarterback. And if he can carry a team on his shoulders, he will. So he's going to have his opportunities."

Starting Saturday in Seattle.

The murderer has a good point.

When Kurt Warner played for the Rams, it was hard to hate him. It really was. He seemed like a good guy. Bulger on the other hand? I don't care for the guy one bit. He's always got that smug look on his face. I think he may just be Mike Martz' illegitimate son. Here's hoping the Seahawks defense can show some intensity on Saturday and knock Bulger on his ass a few times. That should take care of that smug look.

Jeff Gordon: "Gordo's Zone"
* Are the Rams happy that the Seahawks don’t have receivers with USC-caliber hands?

Sure they are.

Why wouldn't they think that way? I guess there's just one thing for the Seahawks to do to stop all the negative talk about dropped passes.

CATCH THE DAMN BALL!

More from Jeff Gordon: Letters to Gordo
"Even if your pie-in-the-sky preseason picks were close, which they weren't, even if they went 12-4 like last year’s aberration, I just can't see how you can make this guy out to be anything other than a bad coach. Period. All they did was buy another week to go out to Seattle and get destroyed."

-- Gary Maus

Hey, is this is a P-I blogger posing as Gary Maus?

Seriously though, if Mike Martz reads this, he may call out Maus in the press. Hell, he may just call NFL security...oh wait...

Kathleen Nelson: Holmgren ponders his decision on Robinson
"I did a lot of talking, he did a lot of listening," Holmgren said at a news conference Tuesday in Seattle. He added a jab at Rams coach Mike Martz for his heated meeting last month with Kyle Turley. "I didn't have to phone NFL security. It went OK."

A head coach taking a jab at another head coach in his press conference? BRILLIANT!

Len Pasquarelli: Rematches are common in wild card games
"You're going to be all cranked up anyway, definitely, but playing a team that's in your division, that will get the juices going even more. I mean, here's a team that, by nature, you don't like that much anyway. The last thing you want is for them to knock you out (of the playoffs)."
—--Seahawks DE Chike Okeafor

Chike Okeafor is underrated.

Paul Zimmerman: "Dr. Z's Power Rankings"
Dr. Z has the Seahawks at #16.

That's right, #16.

I know the NFC is less-than-stellar this season. But how can anyone in the media justify ranking the Seahawks below non-playoff teams such as Buffalo, Baltimore, New Orleans, Carolina, Jacksonville, and Cincinnati? Face it, the Seahawks won the NFC West at 9-7. It's not the first time a team has won their division at 9-7.

I would like nothing more than to see the 9-7 Seattle Seahawks raise the Vince Lombardi Trophy in Jacksonville February 6. Of course, there will be some media outlets who will still use the old logo when they're covering the Seahawks Super Bowl victory.

That's the Wednesday edition of Dispatched.

Hope you enjoyed it.
