UPDATED SEAHAWKS PLAYOFF SCENARIOS
Since there are a few folks who are interested in the scenarios of who will play the Seahawks in the first round, I might as well do another playoff scenario post.
We know that the Seahawks have clinched a playoff berth with today's win over Arizona at Qwest Field.
What we don't know is the opponent for the Seahawks in the first round (January 8 or 9)
Next Sunday (Jan. 2), the New Orleans Saints travel to Charlotte to face the Carolina Panthers. Both teams are 7-8 and the winner of that game will be in the playoffs. What helps both teams here is that they both defeated the St. Louis Rams.
The Rams must win their final two games (home tomorrow night vs Philadelphia and home vs New York Jets next Sunday) and hope for the Seahawks to lose to Atlanta next Sunday in order to clinch the NFC West. We know all too well about the tiebreaker the Rams have over the Seahawks.
Another pivotal game next Sunday is the Minnesota Vikings taking on the Washington Redskins. The Vikings are 8-7 and could clinch a playoff berth tomorrow night if the Rams lose to Philadelphia. But needless to say, they would like to beat the Redskins next Sunday to put themselves at 9-7.
So here it goes:
IF CAROLINA AND MINNESOTA FINISH 8-8
The Panthers earn the #5 seed based on conference record
(Carolina 7-5 against the NFC, Minnesota 5-7)
PLAYOFF MATCHUP: Carolina at Seattle, Minnesota at Green Bay
IF NEW ORLEANS AND MINNESOTA FINISH 8-8
The Vikings would earn the #5 seed based on head-to-head matchup
(Minnesota won at New Orleans Oct. 17 38-31)
PLAYOFF MATCHUP: Minnesota at Seattle, New Orleans at Green Bay
IF MINNESOTA FINISHES 9-7 (DEFEATS WASHINGTON)
PLAYOFF MATCHUP: Minnesota at Seattle, Carolina/New Orleans at Green Bay

There are three possible scenarios there. Two of those scenarios would have Minnesota traveling to Seattle the weekend of January 8-9 to play the Seahawks in Qwest Field. Personally, I don't care who plays the Seahawks in the first round, whether it be the Vikings or the Carolina Panthers. The Seahawks have beaten both of those teams this season. Hell, they also beat the Saints as well.
Hell yeah, I'm assuming the Seahawks will win the NFC West. Don't even ask me about the possible wild-card scenarios for the 'Hawks at this point. We're thinking division title and home playoff game here at Sports and Bremertonians.
But in the long run, we're really thinking Super Bowl. And why the hell not? The good people of Jacksonville needs some Seahawks to visit their fair city during the first week of February.
The NFC is wide-open, folks.
WHY NOT THE SEAHAWKS?
