RAZZDAZZ
One day after the Sun runs a hockey-bashing article (my reaction), they run a story (by Steve Jones) about Bremerton grad Miah Davis and his current gig, the Roanoke Dazzle of the National Basketball Developmental League (NBDL). He's currently a backup guard to former Virginia star Corey Alexander. There are 15 former NBDL players currently on NBA rosters. Some players in the NBDL can be picked up for 10-day contracts if some teams get banged up.
Here's a wish of luck to the point man for the Knights' 1999 fifth-at-state team as well as the University of Pacific's bracket-busting run as a 12th seed that beat the 5th-seeded Providence Friars in the first round. Marvin Williams may be the best player to come out of Bremerton, but Miah Davis ran the best hoops team we'd seen in Bremerton in a long time, the likes of which we haven't seen since.
Here's to hoop dreams of the local kind.
[Edit ~5:45p -- Oops. I originally gave Pacific one more round of credit than they were actually due (I'd said Sweet 16), as Jeremy noted in the comment box. I hate when things that are horribly incorrect persist in my mind and then I'm convinced for the longest time that said things are correct.]
