YOU CAN PUT THIS ON THE BOARD, YES

Bremerton's own Tara Kirk has been named the 2003-2004 National Collegiate Woman Athlete of the Year.

The other finalists for the award included Catherine Reddick (North Carolina, soccer), April Ross (USC, volleyball), Diana Taurasi (Connecticut, basketball) and Jessica van der Linden (Florida State, softball).

What did Tara do at Stanford to deserve all of this great acclaim?
---Won 11 national championships (4-year champion of 100-meter breaststroke)
---16 All-American honors
---Owns world record in 100-meter breaststroke
---Owns 6 American swimming records
---Undefeated 35-0 record in the 100-meter breaststroke

The Olympic Trials will take place July 7-14 in Long Beach. Tara is the favorite in the 100-meter breaststroke, and with good reason. She told the Seattle Times that she doesn't consider herself the favorite, instead giving that status to Amanda Beard. Don't be so humble, Tara!

Not only did Tara receive the top honor for female collegiate athlete, she recently signed a deal with Speedo to wear the Speedo Fastskin FSII, the world's fastest swimsuit.

Go get em' in Long Beach and Athens, Tara!!!
