GAME 63: MARINERS 4, ANGELS 1
[initial partial post]
In 25 words or less: For once, the outcome of the game turned on Vlad impaling his own team rather than the opposition.
This one featured Jarrod Washburn going up against Kelvim Escobar. The Mariners looked to win their seventh game in nine tries, which would put them five games under .500 for the second time in three days. The last time they were four games under .500, they had won their fifth game out of six on May 24th before losing the next six games. The last time they were three games under .500, they won an 8-2 game in Minnesota on the first day of May to make themselves 12-15. As you might suspect, the low-water mark for the Mariners was after they'd lost their sixth straight game, which put them ten games under .500 on May 30th.
