THE PUMP 5/29/05
Mariners at Devil Rays, 11:15 a.m. Pacific (FSN Northwest, MLB.TV)
Joel Pineiro (2-3, 5.93 ERA) vs Doug Waechter (1-3, 5.83 ERA)
The Dave Henderson "YOU'LL SEE SOMETHING YOU'VE NEVER SEEN BEFORE" Department, sponsored by Red Balls. It's coke in a can, baby!
Devil Rays starting pitcher Doug Waechter is 2-0 lifetime against the Mariners. If the Mariners were to beat him today, he would be 2-1. That would mean that Waechter has a loss on his record to the Mariners. (cue Ron Fairly)
Of course you remember the 2-hitter Waechter threw against the M's on September 3, 2003? I know I do. Since that day in Tampa Bay, the M's are 94-139 (.403). I have nothing left to say about that.
Oh, and another thing you've never seen before, but it might just happen today? Danica Patrick winning the Indianapolis 500. Too bad that Tony George ruined open-wheel racing as we know it. Obviously the Indy 500 hasn't been the same since CART stopped racing at the Brickyard. But hey, Jim Nabors is still singing "Back Home In Indiana", so at least that hasn't been scrapped from the once-greatest spectacle in auto racing.
Don't drink and drive. Hooray Responsibility!
