USE YOUR HEDBERG

The Moose, Johan Hedberg, tossed a shutout (of only 14 shots) in his first game in net for the Canucks, a 3-0 win over the Edmonton Oilers in GM Place, a.k.a. "The Garage." Matt Cooke had two goals and an assist. Trevor Linden had two assists. Jiri Slegr got his first goal since February of 2002 with a shorthanded goal in the second period.

Next week for the Canucks: Monday at Columbus, Thursday at Detroit, and Saturday at Minnesota. Yeah, let's hope for 2-1 out of that trip.

By the way, Minnesota had the potent goalie duo of Dwayne Roloson and Manny Fernandez last year and used them both effectively. This year, the Canucks have Dan Cloutier and Johan Hedberg, who may be an even better duo than the Minnesota guys.

[Later add: an article of exactly how Ed Jovanovski managed to roll up 27 penalty minutes in the last game, and another article on Matt Cooke, who had three points]

GO CANUCKS!!
